Many of you are making big plans for this 4th, but still wonder how to stay on the BFC. Well good news is here: I have a secret recipe I use to barbecue one of your favorite foods.
Spicy Grilling Sauce for Chicken
12 servings
2 eggs
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. sea salt
1 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
1/4 tsp. pepper
Cayenne pepper - to taste
Mix all ingredients together. Baste and grill.
S/C Value = 0/0 per serving
Tangy Barbecue Sauce for Meat
4 servings
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce
2 Tbsp A-1 or other steak sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. meat tenderizer
1/4 tsp. onion powder
Crushed pepper flakes - to taste
Blend all ingredients together. Baste and grill.

Do you have suggestions for vegetarians or vegans?
Dear Jorge,
I am in my sixties, a time when I personally dropped the idea of dieting. Yet a few years ago my deep feelings for animals made me "almost" a vegetarian except for seafood. Then I heard about the dangers of belly fat and realized that though I was no longer a "dieter," I still needed to watch for health tips. I bought your book and began to think of health only. Now I was the vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and salmon lady, with a few other good weapons in my arsenal like legumes, olive oil, eggs, and nuts, but since this was not about weight for once in myi life it took quite a while for me to realize that my clothes were getting very loose. And another very long time before I realized I could wear clothes I had not worn in many years. I have now lost eighteen pounds without once thinking of dieting. I am lighter, healthier, and have a new zest for life. I may even lose a few more pounds, but it won't be through trying. I am not on a weight-loss diet!

Hi Jorge, You are MY HERO!!! I am SO sugar aware, even when I eat something "bad" once in a blue moon. I'm 56, almost 57 and I started your program 6 months ago. I'm 5' 3 1/2" and I lost 50 pounds. I have my before and after pics too. No one ever believes I am 56 years old!!! I have been divorced 14 years now, and finally people are starting to look at me in the dating realm! I never look at ingredients the same way since I read your book. I also had joined your online program for the 6 weeks, though I admit not to following it exactly but pretty close. Jorge, I've only been doing your plan for a few weeks. I love your recipes! I used your Parker's Pancakes recipe, minus the baking powder, to make crepes...and filled them w/ strawberries and homemade whipped cream, sweetened w/ Stevia. You rock man!
P.S. My story is similar to Elena's. I'm in it for the health of it and I'm 40. The scales have only moved about 6 lbs in almost two weeks but my clothes are looser. I only used the scales to make sure I wasn't GAINING with all the delicious food I've been eating with your guidelines. My husband has seen the results, as well as the decadent food I've been eating and can't believe his eyes. It's so backward from how we've been "taught" for dieting.
Since 10/19/09 I have lost 59.5#. Still on program. Still loosing. Feel real good and I'm excited about the changes in my life. When I started I could feel my body shutting down. I was in complete pain from head to toe and I had no control over my eating. Now the pain is so much less. I was taking 8 Aleve a day for pain, now I go days without any pain meds at all! My knees and back are doing so much better. I still have a lot of weight to loose but for the first time in a long time I feel there is hope to regaining my life back. For the first time in years I can wake up in the morning and feel ready to really take on the day! I truly believe sugar is the root of all evil. And now I have the power! :)
My whole life I have struggled with my weight and kept it under wraps with yo-yo dieting. I think I have tried just about every diet out there. I had it under control and got myself right where I wanted to be...then I got pregnant. I put on 60 pounds during my pregnancy and sadly only lost about 15 in the weeks after delivery. It has now been 8 months and again, I tried everything but it had never been harder to loose weight. In fact, I gained! Then a friend told my about your book and said she was giving it a try. We committed to do it together so I purchased my own copy. Every week we would get together and weigh and measure each other to track our success. We would share recipes and keep each other on track. I am no only 10 pounds away from being back into my pre-pregnancy weight since January. In fact, had I not gone to Europe and eaten pastries for 3 weeks I would probably be there. When I returned I couldn't wait to get back on track. Because of my rough delivery, I was unable to exercise so this was a great diet for me. Since I have been back from my trip however, I have been back on track and have started running again. Thank you. This was a blessing for me when nothign else would work. (Now if only those last 10 were easier to lose. I feel like I have hit a bit of a plateau. Any suggestions?)

After 10 years of being "slightly" overweight in October 2009, we took the challenge of reducing our sugar intake and started to lose pounds that haven't come back! My husband, has lost 24 pounds , and I've lost 15 pounds. We use to drink coca cola like crazy...we stopped that immediately once we decided to quit. It wasn't that hard. When I get my cola urge, I drink Zevia. We've become a team at eating healthier and staying physically fit. We continue to walk at least 6x a week (3 miles) but now worry about losing too much weight. I tell my husband that I will need new clothes if I lose more weight.

I can't remember the exact date I started but it was this year. My wake up call came when I saw pictures of myself from my girlfriend's retirement party. My stomach was huge. I am 59 yrs old and decided that I wouldn't go into my 60's with that stomach weight. I was so enlightened when I read your book. I have lost 20 lbs. I was never a dieter and other than being sick, I have never lost 20 lbs. I just drop another 4 lbs last week and I am getting closer to my goal weight. My mother was so impressed that she brought your book and this my sister-in-law brought it also. I also gave a copy to my doctor's nurse. I asked her to weight me and then look at my chart. DEAR JORGE, I WENT ON YOUR BELLY FAT DIET IN FEB. OF THIS YEAR AND LOST 25 ILBS, BUT THE LAST TWO MONTHS I HAVE NOT LOST ANYMORE WEIGHT. I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND VERY ACTIVE; WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST. I just am so happy that you gave me the information to suceed. I use to fail diets. I would lose10 pounds only to gain back 15 pounds.I was so fustrated!! Dear Jorge, I started using your book, The Belly Fat Cure the first week of May, 2010 and have lost 20 lbs. I feel like my old self again! My husband has changed his eating habits as well and he has also lost 20lbs in one month! The choices are many and the taste are awesome. I loved to eat tacos and pasta all the time and since reading your book and changing the way I cook tacos has made a big difference. I don't eat pasta anymore but I enjoy eating the different types of tacos. My goal is to loose another 20lbs and I believe that I can do it within the next 3 months! Thanks for your Belly Fat Cure book, it really opened my eyes to the dangers of sugar. I had gone to my doctor in November 2009 with problems and here in the last few weeks went back again. I had lost 21# in that time frame, told him what I was doing and showed him your book. His response was to continue what I was doing as it obviously is working. The coca cola was the hardest to get off of and although I do limit my sugar intake (love the stevia, zevia pop and spry dental products), I'm feeling the best I've ever felt. The bonus was getting my 83 year old mother to also get on the "band wagon". She has drastically cut most of the sugar out of her diet, now if we could just get my sister and brother with the program. Your way definitely works and I've been talking to many people about it and they have also expressed interest in becoming healthy as well. Jorge, thank you. The BFC has given me so much freedom. After years of never having to worry, my family history, desk job and being a mom finally caught up with me and I got to be 30 pounds overweight. Since learning of the BFC, a couple of weeks before the book came out, I started following the plan and have lost 17 pounds eating lots of delicious foods. For the first time in a long time, I don't feel deprived or guilty about eating things I love or having a bit of wine now and then. I don't miss the excessive sugar and carbs in processed foods, and I am so grateful to have BFC approved choices when circumstances prevent me from shopping and cooking at home. I'd be happy to share my before and mid-way through photos, and I enthusiastically volunteer to be a trial case for breaking through the halfway there plateau (ok, I admit it, I got a bit lazy) to total fitness and ideal weight, (I'm a 38 year old single mom.) Your plan is realistic for regular people, from all walks of life. We are all in this together, and it is only through practical, do-able steps that we will be able, as a society, in a critical mass, to reawaken to the kind of eating (and thinking about eating) that up until a century ago, was the norm for most people. An online friend said that just 20 minutes a day devoted to food preparation is enough to make all the difference. I agree. It takes just the littlest bit of effort and forethought. HEY Jorge ! Thanks man for all the recipe's and your down to earth friendly personality. Since finding your book at one of our local grocery store's in Middletown ,Ohio, I have lost 25 lbs. and 3 belt sizes in about 2 month's. My favorite recipe is the waffles with butter , sugar free syrup and whip cream.
I bought the Belly Fat Cure after seeing Jorge on a PBS special with Christian Northrup. The subtitle, For People Too Tired to Diet or Exercise, really caught my attention. I also concurrently have been working with an allergist after discovering I was allergic to some of my favorite foods, with the goal of overcoming chronic fatigue. After about a week I have lost 7 pounds and I know there is more coming off. I can wear jeans I had given up on. :) Thanks Jorge.

Dear Jorge, I have been on the BFC plan for two and one half weeks as of this morning. What I am having difficulty with (especially after reading all of the wonderful testimonials) is that I have not lost any weight. I am in a dangerous place weight wise and really want my waist to shrink. Although I have been tracking everything I put in my mouth, it doesn't seem to be having the effect it's having on everyone else. If you have any hints, I would truly appreciate your help.

Thank you very much for the bbq sauce recipes but I found some very tasty and 0 sugar sauces from brand name Nature's Hollow. I do have to order these online from netrition.com since nobody close to me sells it.

Although I never actually purchased the belly fat cure program. I was sent you link back in December from a co-worker. He knew I was a fan of low carb diet programs. I watched yours videos a few times and was hooked. It all made complete sense to me, finally the logical answer to losing weight! I'm in the food business selling all natural plant based products from around the world. I needed to look the part. Since I started following the basic logic of no sugar, no processed foods with hidden sugar, no starch or bread and carbs coming from nuts, seeds and other natural sources the weight has come off fast. I may have been too harsh in that I have done no bread or no pasta even the whole wheat but I was good with it. I continue to drop a slow and steady pace of 2 pounds with-out even trying. As of today I am down exactly 50 pounds and I thank you!
I am so excited about this program. I have been on the plan for 2 months and have lost 18 pounds. I feel better than I have in years. I am 49 and have run numerous marathons. Over the last five years I gained 30 pounds while training & running. I was always hungry. I knew how to exercise but I could never figure out the nutrition part of the equation. I purchased your book about 6 months ago. At the time my weight was at an all time high and I was not happy about it. I didn't feel comfortable in my own body. I have never been much of a dieter. I LOVE food and most "diets" are very restrictive. I always felt I could do ANYTHING for a day... maybe even a week, but I had never found anything I could utilize for the long term to get the results I wanted. I read your book from cover to cover and thought "I might be able to do this". As I started your program I found out just how simple this lifestyle is. Believe me, if I can stick to it, anyone can. After 2 weeks I lost my craving for sugar, I never feel deprived and I have now lost just over 30 lbs. I have turned some of my friends on to this way of eating and me an a long time friend have even started a small "email club" where we discuss our different situations, find out what works for one another, share any new products we find sweetened w/ Stevia and encourage each other. First it was just me and her and since starting, we have had 3 more people join us in our emails. We've helped others understand your program and made several suggestions to the newcomers.
I'm SO glad I found this program. I'm feeling so much better, I'm looking better and best of all, I'm still sticking to it... the weight is not coming off fast, but I'm also ok with that. Slow but steady! P.S. I've done all of this without any exercise. I plan on starting some Yoga soon, as I feel that will help me feel even better, but knowing that my weight will still come off just sticking to this lifechange is a wonderful feeling.

HI Jorge, I am a 35 year old married man who as most people do when they get married and have kids they gain weight and I am no exception. I gained 120lbs in 7 years. My husband and I started the BFC after he had abdominal hernia surgery in January of this year. We were determined that we could work together and lose weight. I truly believe that your book has SAVED MY LIFE. Before I started the Belly Fat Cure, I was having a lot of problems with hypoglycemia if I didn't eat right away when I got hungry. I had tried and tried and tried to lose weight, sometimes doing extreme exercise sessions that lasted for hours and cutting my calories down to 1200 a day. Nothing worked. I was hungry, shaky, exhausted and I felt terrible most of the time. I couldn't sleep well at night, which made me even more exhausted, and I had no energy. I started the Belly Fat Cure, and I have lost 20 lbs so far. The program is working slowly for me, but my belly has gotten smaller and smaller. I now wear jeans 2-4 sizes smaller (depending on the brand). I love it! The food tastes good and I don't feel like I'm dieting. I can sleep well again. I have SO much energy that I can do things that previously were simply exhausting to me. I now ride my bike to work every day, and this coming weekend I will be riding in a cycling "marathon". I'm 40, and haven't felt this good in years!
Over 12 years ago I had stopped eating processed sugar and corn syrup, but I didn't show this kind of weight loss then. With the help of your book, I realized that I was still eating too much sugar from honey, agave syrup and fruits. And too many carbs as well. I really had tried everything else, and feel that the Belly Fat Cure is the last eating program I will ever go on. It seems miraculous that I am finally losing weight, after all that I've tried. I feel that I can stay on the eating plan for the rest of my life - and watch the unwanted pounds just melt away!

To Erica, who posted about being vegetarian or vegan, really you just follow the same recommendations and just use all of your animal friendly substitutions. For example, I make the belly-fat friendly pancakes (or buy a low carb high fiber brand) & eat a piece of vegan soysage with coffee & Silk creamer for breakfast. Lunch - a big salad with all kinds of veggies (& cheese or soy-cheese, if you are vegan) or some other kind of veggie wrap (with belly fat friendly wraps) & some mustard & mayo (or vegannaise). Dinner - low carb/low sugar pasta with marinara & veggies. Snacks - besides the obvious veggie snacks, I have found some vegan & carb friendly bars at Trader Joe's & Whole Foods, or a yummy soy shake with Silken tofu, small amount of berries for flavor, & ice (may add a chickpea protein powder or heck just throw in chickpeas, they don't taste like much & add texture). Just always check the carb/sugar content of your substitutions. I buy unsweetend Almond milk, Soymilk, & rice milk and then sweeten them to taste with Purvia. I hope that helps!

I have been doing this belly fat cure thing for about a month and half. I have been doing everything strictly by the book. It's actually really easy and I don't feel like I am on a diet at all. I am 24 years old, 5'2' and a 160 pounds. Although I don't feel so crummy anymore, at the same time I feel like I have less energy. Also, I have only have lost 2 pounds. I am getting a little discouraged here. Could anyone offer any help?
I am 37 - been doing the program since April 1st 2010. So far I am down 32 pounds and hope to go 40 more. Not been using the recipies (except the ice cream and brownies), more just reading packages and paying attention. This is the easiest thing I have ever done for myself. Thanks a BILLION.

I wasn't fat by any means. I have been going to the gym for 30 years (I'm 54). Lot's of weight and quite a bit of cardio the last 10 years. I'm 5' 7" and use to weigh 165 lbs. I bought your book at Costco after seeing some of your video's. I now weigh 150 lbs thanks to your book and a lot less sugar. My wife's best freind, says don't lose anymore weight. I have reached my goal. Now my goal is six pack. I'm doing Ab's five days a week. Let me know if you have any ideas for my Ab's.

This is Dan from Altoona checking in. I saw an article about you and the BFC in a Sunday supplement. - My history - Weight #355 age 63 - hgt 6'2''. I'm retired on disability because of poor health. I have DMII, chronic kidney problem,sleep apnea,chronic copd,I've had 2 open heart surgeries,one for bypass and one to replace diseased valves. I have tried every diet on the planet , many that produced a weight loss only to return just as fast as it left. I currently have 9 doctors that I see on a regular basis and I take 34 medicines a day. ALL to doctors have said to LOSE WEIGHT or else.
My goal is to find a lifestyle that I can live with for ever and because of that lifestyle I will be able to loose not only weight but several doctors and at least half of my daily meds.
I do believe that the belly fat cure will eventually allow me to do that. I ordered the book right after Christmas and began the program on Jan 6 2010. TO DATE:I've lost 55 pounds I've gone from a 52 inch waist to a 46 in waist. My kidney doctor has cut 2 of my meds in half. (it's a start) .
My general overall health has improved over the past 6 monts. I feel teriffic!!! my blood test numbers are all good. Along with the weight and inch loss I am on a C-PAP machine. I actually am doing things again. I'm moving around and functioning just like everybody else. As far as the weight goes , I'mabout half way to where I need to be.
When I began the BFC I had the attitude of "I've got nothing to loose but gut, so just give it a chance.To my suprise - It was easy.I was noticing it in my clothes. then the scale. I have lost about 10 pounds a month- Without hardly trying. This lifestyle change has been easy. I had a little trouble in finding the brands suggested in the book, but i've managed to over come that small detail. I can eat just about anything I hungry for and I'mi amazed by how good the sugar free products are,you can't really tell the difference between a sugar free Reeses peanut butter cup and a regular one. I can't but my body , especially my pancreas can. One thing I've noticed was my periods o f" plateau "While I thought myt body was stalling it was playing catch up , I lose weight on the scale -then- after a couple of days of the same weight I lose inches. Bottom line I'm smaller and lighter at the end of the month.
By New Years I hope to be 100 pounds lighter than I was last New Year I'll be able to pat myself on the back for the effort.but, I will be forever grateful to you for showing me the way ! I only wish i would've known about this program 20 years ago! thank you again ! Dan Ream

I was always in shape & thin , I had a few bad years, lost my Mom, money issues, job stress, and I gained almost 60 lbs, I've lost 23 lbs since mid April 2010, it's easy and it just comes off, I was the one on a winter day with whole bag of chips, cookies & ice cream! My fav is the Fage yougart, walnuts and the Berry Barleans, love it, have it every night. I've turned a few friends onto the Belly Fat Cure and each have lost almost 10 lbs, our ages are 48, 53 and 62! Due to my weight I would not go out, found any excuse not attend any functions or even go out with friends, now I go out and I feel great, thank you from the bottom of my healthy heart!!

My husband, Bob, and I both started the BFC in January of this year. He insisted that his waist size was 36 - don't all men...but it was actually 41. That convinced him to do this with me and we've both lost weight. Bob has lost 6 inches and 30 pounds and I've lost 35 pounds! Everything you've said about this is correct. It's easy and it's fun. We'll never go back to the way we were eating. I was hooked on sweets and don't even miss them. I indulge once in a while but have not gain any of the weight - you can't deny yourself or this won't work. My friends find it hard to believe that I'll have an ice cream or a piece of cake but I tell them I don't make a habit of it anymore. All of our friends ask us how we've done it and we tell them about the BFC. I would love to see everyone on it so that they could feel as good as we do. Thank you so much for starting this! I bought your book by suggestion of my doctor. It really helped me to jump start my success but i did have to go a step further and watch my sodium and calories because of medical reasons. I had never been given such a simple idea. When I really started looking at the amount of sugar in what i was eating it was truly eye opening. I have lost 38 pounds and 34 inches so for. I still have a long way to go to get to my goal, but thank you for helping me with the jump start. I exercise daily now. I walk 6 miles a day and I am in training because in November my family and i are walking 30 miles to celebrate 30 years of marriage. Dreams do come true.
hi, i have a husband that would never ever stick to any diet.i hate to say that he has built a big shed to guard his tools,i saw your book and saw the real food that you can eat,and i have to admit the recipes are so good and the clemmys ice cream is better then the real deal.my husband has been eating your way and he is loosing inches and has so much energy to boot.thank you so much for your expertise.
Jorge - I'm very surprised and disappointed that while you urge people to avoid artificial sweetners because they are excitotoxins, you have presented a recipe here that contains MSG in its ingredient list. As long as the poultry seasoning only has herbs in it, you're safe, but the only "meat tenderizer" I know of is pure MSG. If you read Russelll Blaylock's book, "Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills", you know that MSG is very bad for humans and yet it is still on the FDA's GRAS list. I thought it was great that you're recommending your readers read this book. What's going on??

I began following your Belly Fat Cure about a month after your book came out. I have to be honest...when I began to receive emails from you about your new release back in Nov. I deleted the messages after reading them and thought, "yeah, yeah...another diet". Even when the book came out I didn't run out and buy it. Let's face it...15g of sugar a day seems extreme!
Then you sent that message to "women over 40" and I sat up and took notice. I was 51 and beginning to think that I was going crazy and aging a lot faster than I wanted to! I'm a very outgoing woman, love to laugh and make others laugh. That person was slipping away quickly. I was having boughts of anxiety and feeling overwhelmed for absolutely no reason. I couldn't seem to get myself going much before noon and I've always been a morning person. I just dragged myself through the day. I have a busy life with my husband and two teenage boys, so this just wasn't working for me!! My health is good and I'm on no medications and want to keep it that way, so I didn't want the doctor putting me on something if I could avoid it.
After reading your message and watching the videos that came along with it I decided that I had nothing to lose (other than weight!) by giving it a try. I seemed to have ALL the symptoms that were mentioned and decided that if all it took was to limit my sugar then it would be well worth the deprivation. WOW...was I in for a surprise!! Within less than a week my symptoms were GONE...and I was far from deprived! I love what I'm eating and it's EASY! I'm down 10 lbs, which isn't a lot with this plan, but I really would only like to lose another 10-15, so I'm fine with that. For me it was more about getting my life back and feeling like myself again and I'm there. I've taken the mindset and told people that I choose to believe that I have a mild allergy to sugar...I can have it, but I hate the way too much of it makes me feel.
I would have never done this without you, Jorge, and I can't thank you enough for the "over 40" angle that you added...I would have just blown it off otherwise. I realize that you're looking for the more obvious and dramatic physical changes, but for me the weight loss has been a welcome side benefit and the internal changes have been HUGE!! I'm sure that there has to be other women out there going through the same emotional roller coaster ride that I was on in addition to the weight struggle and I strongly recommend that you appeal to them as much as those struggling with weight. It's a win/win from both angles! It's wonderful having my lfe back!
I anxiously await the release of your new book this time as I really would like some recipes that don't entail all of the special ingredients. This is now my way of life and I LOVE it!!

Your request for “success stories” arrived at a great time. I was actually going to send you a big “thank you” email over the 4th of July weekend because I achieved my weight loss goal on Tuesday. The Belly Fat Cure has been a huge success… I have lost just over 45 pounds in 118 days! I am 37 years old and weigh what I did the summer after high school. I greatly appreciate what you and your staff have compiled and shared with the public. I have personally purchased over 10 (actually I lost track) Belly Fat Cure books and given them to family, friends, and strangers that have shown an interest in losing weight. Hey Jorge, In January of last year I was at 170 and had been working out consistently just to try to just drop 5 lbs. I came across the BFC Plan in Womans First magazine and it made complete sense to me. I didnt think I was eating poorly until I started to look at the sugar content in foods. The first week I dropped 4lbs and have been loosing consistently since. Now, 15 lbs lighter I have purchased 11 of your books and have gotten many others to follow BFC and they have also had great success! I am a huge advocate of you and your program! I'm A 66 YR female, 15 lbs lighter and my waistline is 4" less now (July 2, 2010) than on May 20, 2010 --- due to Jorge's BFC. I'd just been declared "prediabetic" and already being treated for severe CAD after a triple bypass. Cutting out sugar was just what I needed to do. I'm looking better and feeling great ! I went back to the doctor the following week and I lost 4 lbs.- the doctor's scale never lies. It is 2 months later and I've lost 18 lbs. I am not losing 4-9 lbs every week, but I am very grateful for the amazing changes without all that sugar in my life. It is not a diet, I am not hungry, deprived or sacrificing anything. My name is Lauren Collins and Im 17 years old and i lost 35lbs thanks to the help of the BFC. I started at 177 almost 180 now im at 142lbs. im almost at my goal weight :). For years I fought my wieght but never thought anything of it! untill one day i was going through some photos of mine and realized i have got to do something to get myself back on track! Both my parents had started the BFC and the results they were getting were amazing! Now i was never a very active person the only activity i did was swimming because i am on a swim team! Thanks to you, Jorge, I have become a detective, and sugar is the enemy. I am 66 years old, and I have lost over 20 lbs. since Jan. without dieting. I don't feel that I have to hurry up and lose weight so I can get off the plan. For the first time, this is my forever after eating style. My blood pressure is down, and I no longer take Advil every day for the aches and pains of bad back, knees and shoulder pain I believe sugar really is an inflammatory. I am in my early 40's. I have struggled with my weight for the last 17 years. I started this plan about 3 months ago. I have lost 30 pounds, and still need to lose more. My biggest accomplishment on this plan came in my 4th week on the plan. When I was doing my life insurance blood work my results came back that I had high tryglycerides at 151. 30-150 is normal, but I was definetly on the high end. After 4 weeks of being on your plan my tryglycerides dropped to 50. My goal is not to be a size 6, my goal is to be healthy and comfortable in my own skin. I love this plan it is very easy for me.
