What is buzzing this year in the foodie world?   Let’s take a tour around the world and discover the exciting foods to spice up your meals in this new year.  Food is the most delicious vehicle to expand horizons and a wonderful way to embrace new flavors.  Here is to trying Jorge’s chic and trendy foods of the year.  

First on the list is the very exotic and belly friendly adaptation of rice using veggies.  No need to miss out on your favorite dishes.  Utilizing vegetables like Cauliflower, Broccoli or Zucchini are fabulous ways to sneak extra fiber and healthy nutrients to any meal.  Swap out any recipe calling for rice with your favorite vegetable, or mix with herbs like cilantro for a quick and easy side dish. 

Next, let’s enjoy the bliss of Beets. These beautiful dark pigmented beets burn belly fat.  Also, they play a role in lowering blood pressure, promote heart health.  Beets are so versatile - grated them and add to your favorite sauces, grilled them to perfection coated with olive oil, balsamic and season with salt and pepper, or just grate them fresh to perk up a salad. 

Cold brew coffee takes you into the interesting happenings in the world of coffee. Fitness pros all over are discussing the benefits of cold brew. Science has shown the process of drip brewing coffee in slower process removes a lot of the acid leading to reduced issues in the stomach. This process also promotes more antioxidants to protect the heart and improve immune function, all while reducing inflammation.  Cold brew coffee with with coconut oil or MCT oil is a delightful way to start your day. 

Last on our list are the mysterious Mushrooms.  They are so chic and definitely on the rise with the vast variety of exotic species of mushrooms - the options are endless to spruce up any meal.  They are the only ingredient rich in Vitamin D which is  important for immune function. The best aspect of mushrooms is how creative you can get with seasonings because they absorb flavors so well.  Experiment with different varieties and flavor profiles.  You can even get mushrooms in powder form!
